“Islam datang dalam keadaan
asing, dan akan kembali dalam keadaan asing.”
That was
exactly what happened to me. Not sure if it does happen to other people, but
Islam came to me as something strange though I was born a muslim. Having the
mindset that Islam is associated with practicing ibadah; practically i.e.
Prayers, fasting, etc) and theoretically during afternoon school sessions (and may as well forget it once you get the certificate), if I may say, my life
was not fully Islamic back then. Islam was only a part of my life when Islam is
supposed to be syumul (as a whole) for people who call themselves a muslim.
Today marks
the 91st
year of the fall of Ottoman Empire and hence, Islamic empire that was
once on top of the world (ustaziatul ‘alam-UA). During the UA era of Islam,
everyone and every country use Islamic country as their reference, just how we
use Westerns as our point of reference nowadays. Back then, everything done by the
muslims are being set as an example. This includes the robe that is used for
graduation these days. Simply because muslims wore jubah a lot frequently back
then, and someone who dresses that way was seen as someone very well-educated
and knowledgeable. Therefore, the westerners invented the “graduation robe”.
Interesting right? Islam was everything.
Fast
forward, 3rd March 1924 marks the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
Secularism (separating religion from life) started spreading in Turkey when
Mustafa Kamal At-Tartuk introduced the policy of separating religion from
politics, followed by more and more soon after that. Women can’t wear headscarf
at work, there should be no ikhtilat (limit of relationship between men and
women who are not mahram of each other) between different gender, and the list
was endless.
It has been
91 years. And, we are still falling behind (It is good that we are catching up, now). The muslim countries are still
suffering. The rich muslim countries keep on ignoring their brothers and
sisters who are being killed, tortured, abused as each day passed. It is sad when your
life is based on materials. It is heartbreaking to hear children in Palestine,
Syria, and elsewhere are being abused in so many ways, killed for their
innocence, taken away from parents, left alone in such a cruel world. Yet, we
are sitting on the couch, consuming every junk food you can find nearest to
you, waiting for the time to pass by, doing nothing. I was that person. Maybe,
I am that person. I still am the person who wastes my time on things that does
not worth my attention. It is time for us to go back and rise again, introduce
Islam as the reference of the world.
“Orang yang berjuang untuk hidup tidak akan
pernah mati.” –HAB.
Such amazing
quote from such respected man. A quote of motivation, not designed to capture
attention. Let us unite, be a part of the bricks to build the wall of Islam.
Put your faith in Allah. As HAB mentioned in his book, “Antara semalam dan hari ini…
‘The three important things that we need to have
are;
1) A
strong iman,
2 2) A
good and continuous tarbiyah (transformation),
3 3) Continuous
in doing dakwah (Spreading messages to people).’
I end this
with;
Al-Hajj, 22:40
“Sesungguhnya Allah pasti
menolong orang yang menolong (agamanya), sesungguhnya Allah benar-benar Maha
Kuat lagi Maha Perkasa.”
3 Mac 1924
Hari sejarah,
hari jatuhnya empayar
uthmaniyyah.
91 tahun: itu lamanya,
masa berlalu pantas,
banyak kerja masih perlu dibuat.
Tanggungjawab ini bukan
tanggungjawab mereka sahaja,
Tapi tanggungjawab kita semua.
Dunia ini semua materi belaka
Sedarkah kita dunia hanya sementara?
Akhirat yang selamanya
Endah tak endah kita untuknya.
Apakah kau mahu di tempat yang
sementara,
Sedangkan syurga itu kekal
selamanya?
Bila kau rasa ini tanggungjawab
bersama,
Gerakkan nadi, kemaskan
langkahmu.
Jika tak berlari, berjalan masih
bisa.
Jika tak berjalan, merangkak pun
pilihan juga.
Bergeraklah,
Walau sakit terasa,
Walau lelah menerpa,
Walau berduri jalannya.
Semuanya akan berakhir dengan
bahagia di JannahNya.
Allahuma ameen.
